Michelle Mazzarella has studied dance since the age of two and has performed professionally in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, modern/contemporary, and pointe for many years. She views dance as a liberating experience and something that she will never cease to learn from. Her passion for performance and professionalism makes her a joy both to watch and to work with. After discovering circus arts at the age of 23, Michelle relocated to Vermont to complete the ProTrack Program at the New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA). She trained full-time in various circus disciplines while also creating her own acts and choreographing around the country. Her primary disciplines are her original trapeze sling, aerial fabric and sling, and Cyr wheel. She has additional experience in handbalancing, flying trapeze, vertical/tree Dancing/harness, various aerial apparatus, partner acrobatics, improvisation, theater, dance, and juggling. Michelle has performed Cyr wheel, trapeze sling, juggling, dance, and dance trapeze with Caroline Calouche & Co. in North Carolina in their two original shows, Random Acts of Kindness and Animalia. She performed aerial fabric and lyra in Halcyon Shows' production of Aureum and for corporate events with the Boston Circus Guild. She has also developed a trio Cyr wheel troupe with her two close friends and roommates, known as CirqueL. Currently, Michelle is touring North America as an aerialist and assistant alongside the British illusionists, Young & Strange, in the large-scale productions Champions of Magic and Delusionists (no, she can't tell you how she gets sawed in half). Michelle loves sharing circus with the world, exploring innovative sequences, and applying concepts from one apparatus to another. She particularly enjoys drawing from her dance background to enhance her work, both on the ground and in the air.
