Gregory Catellier, an Atlanta based dance artist, choreographs, performs, teaches, and designs for dance. Catellier has designed lighting for hundreds of dances both in and out of academia for artists such as Paul Matteson, David Neumann, Lisa Race, Ruth Mitchell Dance Theater, Full Radius Dance, and Staibdance. Catellier’s long relationship with the eminent Bates Dance Festival began in 2009 as the lighting supervisor and continued from 2017 to 2019 as the production manager. Catellier started dancing at Webster University and went on to earn a BA in dance from Arizona State University and MFA in dance with an emphasis in design and production from The Ohio State University. A Professor of Practice at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, Catellier is the resident dance lighting designer and the artist residency coordinator and teaches modern dance technique, design for dance courses, movement improvisation, and solo composition. In addition to his desiging and teaching, Catellier has been crafting eclectic dances for Atlanta’s discerning local community since 2002 under the name Catellier Dance Projects! His award-winning dance for camera collaborations with dance/media artist Jeff Curtis have been selected by festivals in the US and abroad. The most recent film, Transit, has been selected for more than 20 international film festivals. Greg lives and works with wife and dance partner Kristin O’Neal, who is widely known as the best person in the world.
