Mary Kovalcheck grew up in Grayslake, IL, and started dancing at the age of 13. She took classes at her local studio as well as the Lou Conte Dance Studio in Chicago. She recently graduated from Grand Valley State University in Michigan, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Business minor. During her time in the dance program, she worked with several artists, such as Queala Clancy, Yoshito Sakuraba, Wallie Wolfgruber, Deborah Lohse, and Renaldo Maurice. Mary has performed at the American College Dance Association (ACDA) regional conferences in 2022 and 2023. Her senior capstone solo Forward was selected to be in the Spring Dance Concert. Mary is also a recipient of the Upper Division Dance Scholarship and the Alexander Calder Honors Scholarship. This fall, Mary will be moving back to Illinois to dance with the South Chicago Dance Theatre for their 2023/2024 season.
