Alex Bernstein (they/them) is a dancer, performance artist, choreographer, and mixed media artist from Minnesota. They recently graduated cum laude with honors from Williams College with a BA in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and a minor in Africana Studies. They have pursued their lifelong love of dance through research and embodiment of Tap, Contemporary, West African dance and drumming, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Step, Dunham Technique, Hip-Hop, Modern, Ballet, and Jazz. Alex is a recipient of the Hubbard Hutchinson Memorial Fellowship for the Arts and the Ernest Brown Africana Arts Prize. They have worked with Sandra Burton, Kanukai Chigamba, Maxine Lyle, The Urban Bush Women, Saroya Corbett, Ricci Milan, Anthony Morigerato, and Tendai Muparutsa and performed at Mass MoCA and Williams College Museum of Art. Alex would like to thank Tatiana Desardouin for the incredible opportunity to learn, grow, and be inspired by her, Loryane Ogay, Les Gamal, and VSPRTN this summer.
