Composer and artist Brooks Frederickson makes music for a variety of situations: concerts, dance performances, films, installations, and albums. Brooks has worked with leading new music ensembles Sō Percussion, the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), JACK Quartet, Bearthoven, Ensemble mise-en, and Longleash and with performers such as Vicky Chow, Ashley Bathgate, and Nathan Schram. His music has been presented as part of the Bang On A Can Marathon (2014), nief-norf Marathon (2017), and the Contagious Sounds and Columbus // New York Exchange series. Interested in the interaction of movement and sound, he has also collaborated with choreographer Stefanie Batten Bland and the American Ballet Theater Studio Company, choreographer Katherine Helen Fisher, and multi-media artist Julie Rooney. Brooks holds degrees in composition from Butler University (BM), NYU Steinhardt (MM), and Duke University (PhD).
