ISELA GARCIA, SHE/HER (CREATIVE EXPERT), is a Hard of Hearing Latina living in a blend of both Deaf and Hearing worlds. She is proficient in four languages: American Sign Language (ASL), English, Mexican Sign Language (LSM), and Spanish. Isela is an alumna of Gallaudet University, where she earned her B.A. in Interpretation. Currently, Isela works as a Deaf Interpreter for the Deaf/Deafblind communities and also loves to interpret for theater and musical theater. She is a Deaf creative expert collaborating with SDW, teaching dancers how to integrate ASL into their choreography, to highlight the aspects of accessibility, inclusivity, and representation for the Deaf and DeafBlind communities. By sharing her own experiences and teaching others to incorporate ASL into artistic expressions, she is not only amplifying the voices of the Deaf community but also raising awareness by indicating the significance of providing accessibility for all individuals.
