ALEX MANESS, HE/HIM (PROJECTION DESIGN), is a photographer, filmmaker, and projection designer living in Durham. A graduate of Syracuse University, he strives to use still images and video in non-traditional ways. He is a past staff photographer for The Independent Weekly newspaper and co-conspirator at Shadowbox Studio. He has created projection design for numerous theater productions at Playmakers, Duke Theater Studies, Little Green Pig Theatrical Concern, Manbites Dog, and UNC - The Performance Collective. Projection design for dance includes collaborations with Justin Tornow and CultureMill/ADF. Projection design for visual art includes collaborations with artist Heather Gordon at NCMA and CAM Raleigh and also with photographer Alex Harris for his Picturing the South commission Our Strange Land, which was exhibited at the High Museum in Atlanta.
