Director's Note
A note from our Director

My parents knew that they had a task in front of them in channeling my imaginative creativity and rambunctious energy when I tried "flying" off the back of our living room sofa after having taken me to see a production of Peter Pan! From the opening chords of the orchestra’s overture to the breath-taking moment when Peter, Wendy, John and Michael lifted off the ground, my life-long love of the arts began, and I knew then and there that I, too, could "fly."

Sensing the "fire" that had been ignited, my very smart parents gifted me with piano, violin, and guitar lessons; encouraged and supported my participation in creative dramatics, dance, and art classes; and took me on trips to the theater, symphony, dance concerts, and puppet shows. This early exposure to the arts and my parents’ active support in my interests led to my extensive, successful career as musical theater performer (actor/singer/dancer), director, and the creator of a new folk opera in venues from Broadway to the White House.

It is my hope that Listen, Wilhelmina!—this wonderful, whimsical, musical wombat adventure—we spark the imaginations of young, and "young at heart" audiences who, too, may find that they want to learn to play an instrument; or sing out in a voice, bold and free; or who may simply enjoy the pleasure of "listening" to a story exciting, engaging and lots of fun!
