Kevin Shah

Kevin Shah is passionate about bringing artistic expression to life through composition and re-imagining the world in creative and meaningful ways.

Over the last two decades, Kevin's work with numerous organizations, designers, and educators within the marching arts and drum corps activity exemplifies his distinguished accomplishments as a renowned educator and award-winning designer.

From 2010-2013, he served as the Sound Designer for the Bluecoats, and more recently as a Music Design Consultant in 2022. From 2014-2019, Kevin served as the Front Ensemble Arranger and Music Coordinator for the Blue Knights, later taking on the role of Creative Director in 2019. Additionally, Kevin served as a member of the DCI Rules and Systems Task force from 2015-2019. Kevin is currently the Front Ensemble Arranger and Sound Designer for Carolina Crown.

Kevin’s extensive design experience and success also crosses into the indoor percussion activity including his work with Broken City, Arcadia High School, and Vista Murrieta High School.  Additionally, Kevin is deeply committed to giving back to the marching arts and serves as a member of the following Boards of Directors: Winter Guard International (WGI); Southern California Percussion Alliance (SCPA); and Broken City. Kevin is also a member of the WGI Percussion Steering Committee.

Kevin earned a Masters degree in Percussion Performance from the Juilliard School, where he studied with Greg Zuber, Daniel Druckman, Gordon Gottlieb, Joseph Pereira, and Roland Kohloff. Kevin also holds a B.M. in Percussion Performance with a minor in Philosophy from UCLA, where he studied with Mitchell Peters. Kevin has performed with the Metropolitan Opera and the Pacific Symphony, and traveled to Europe, South Korea, Japan, and Australia as a member of the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra.

As an Entrepreneur, Kevin owns and operates projectRISEmusic.com, which features original works for marching band and indoor percussion. In 2021, Kevin launched PRMworkshops.com, a design-focused educational platform for the marching arts, through which he provides exclusive workshops, design and composition coaching, and an online community with hundreds of members that focuses on facilitating a positive and constructive atmosphere where knowledge is shared and growth is encouraged.  Kevin is a Sabian Artist, and also uses and endorses Evans Drumheads and the D’Addario family of products.Most recently, Kevin, along with Tony Nuñez, partnered with Promark to develop their SPYR line of mallets for keyboard percussion.

Kevin lives in Pomona, California with his wife Erica and their beautiful baby girl Emryn, who practices piano every single day with Daddy.
