Fabian Ziegler has already achieved the goal of commissioning a breathtaking new repertoire for percussion in his young career. He is dedicated to bringing innovative compositions by renowned composers such as Daniel Schnyder, Arash Safaian, John Psathas, Avner Dorman, Serj Tankian, and many more to life. His aim is to elevate the percussion repertoire to another level and to work on original and significant projects with leading composers in the international music world. In recent seasons, he collaborated with the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Wellington, the City Light Symphony Orchestra, the Zurich Sing-Akademie, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, the Argovia Philharmonic and worked with Daniel Hope and the New Century Chamber Orchestra, among many other organizations and labels. In the 2024/2025 season, he will debut with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Staatsorchester Braunschweig and in concert halls worldwide, including performances in South Korea, United States, Lithuania, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Fabian Ziegler has also performed at venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Meistersingerhalle Nuremberg, the Glocke Bremen, the Cologne Philharmonie, the Sejong Chamber Hall in Seoul, the KKL Luzern, the Kulturcasino Bern, the Tonhalle St. Gallen, the Lincoln Center in New York, and many more. In 2017, he performed with Martin Grubinger's Percussive Planet Ensemble at the Tonhalle Zurich.
Fabian Ziegler captivates audiences with his varied and imaginative programming and carries a wide range of instruments with him to create diverse soundscapes. His repertoire spans from Bach to Cage to Xenakis and beyond. He frequently participates in world premieres by renowned composers, including percussion concertos with orchestra or choir such as "Circles" by Arkadiusz Katny with the Zurich Singakademie in 2022, "The All-Seeing Sky" by John Psathas in 2022, Arash Safaian's "Ex-Machina" in 2022, Christos Hatzis' "Tongues of Fire" in 2017, and Emmanuel Séjourné's double concerto for vibraphone, marimba, and wind orchestra in 2016, as well as other works for solo percussion and various chamber music pieces.
The native Swiss completed his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Music at the Zurich University of the Arts with Prof. Klaus Schwärzler, Prof. Raphael Christen, Prof. Benjamin Forster, Martin Grubinger, and Prof. Rainer Seegers.
