This piece is a representative Sichuan yangqin (Chinese hammer dulcimer) style, one of the four prominent yangqin styles. The composition uses narrative program to describe scenes of soldiers galloping across the battlefield. They are: drumming, upsizing the praetorium, expedition, and final battle.
