Duet For Cultures was written in the Fall of 2023, adapted from sketches of a Fugue for Chinese instruments. In essence, it is a western piece for Chinese instruments, where the melody is inspired by Chinese folk melodies, but treated in a more western contrapuntal tradition. The goal is to highlight the tradition of music playing for recreation, a practice which was just as important in Europe during the Baroque Period as it was for traditional Chinese cultures.
