Dear parents, relatives and friends,
It is hard to believe that I have already been in Sioux Falls for two and a half months! The time has flown by, as have all of the wonderful and productive rehearsals we’ve had leading up to this concert. I am thrilled that the students have this opportunity to share their efforts, and I am ecstatic to get to perform my first concert alongside them all!
In Sinfonia, we have worked hard at honing our ability to listen carefully, while developing other essential ensemble skills such as flexibility, dynamic range, varied articulation and changes in tempi. With the Youth Orchestra, we have worked diligently on everything from breath and bow control to tone production and sensitive dynamic phrasing. Additionally, the opportunity this weekend to share the stage with the SDSO for a side-by-side performance led by Maestro Gier was a wonderful showcase of our musical talent, that we are fortunate to have here in the community.
Thank you all for your ongoing support of this wonderful program, and I look forward to further growing and strengthening these ensembles in the new year.
