Kyan Carlson is graduating from Lincoln High School and will be attending St. Olaf college this fall, studying music and business. This summer, Kyan will be touring the country with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps on mellophone. Kyan has been an SDSYO member for 8 years, beginning in Philharmonia when he was in 5th grade and joining the Youth Orchestra in 7th grade. He is thrilled to have had opportunities to perform and learn from his mentors and teachers in the SDSO, including his mother on 4th horn! Due to Maestro Fortner’s programming, Kyan has gotten the chance to learn and perform several works with infamous horn solos, and play them on tour in Chicago and Kansas City.
