Special Note
from Sofia

This recital is essentially a compressed representation of my baccalaureate studies. Throughout my time here, I have been pushed and pulled in every different direction and learned more than I ever thought was possible, but at the heart of making it all happen was my family. In turn, I have decided to dedicate this recital to them, the ones behind me every step of the way, especially my aunt Judy Henry, who became my guardian angel just after my first semester at SU finished up. My “Chuch” and I had a bond like no other, and she was truly “my person”. “I love you to the moon and back” was something we never went without saying, hence the title of today’s program. There are a few special dedication moments in the program that carry an extra special meaning to me. Those would include “I am in doubt…” by Undine Smith Moore with text discussing an undying love for those we care for most, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel, which I sang at my Chuch’s funeral, and the closer of the program: “Goodnight Moon” by Eric Whitacre, which I sang for my freshman year diction recital, and was the last piece my aunt heard me sing during her time on earth. Thank you for coming today and I hope you enjoy!

Always and forever, your doodlebug
