Jose Noe Barrera Garcia is from Clinton, Maryland, and he is a Salvadoran-American tenor in the third year of his bachelor’s degree in vocal performance at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. He studies with Dr. Fotina Naumenko. He recently completed his junior recital in March and is excited to announce that he will be attending Opera Lucca in Lucca, Italy, located in the heart of Tuscany, this summer. There, he will serve as the cover for Don Basilio and Don Curzio, and will perform in opera scenes from Mozart's La finta giardiniera and Le nozze di Figaro in the 2025 season. He has been a part of four operas at Shenandoah, including Moscow, Cheryomushki and Caged Birds (a multidisciplinary collection of works such as Eastman's Joyboy, Ratniece's Claybird and Meredith Monk's Realm Variations). Barrera-Garcia's repertoire has a focus on Spanish art songs and arias He also specializes in Spanish diction. He enjoys discovering and learning art songs and arias in different languages. In addition to singing, he has been awarded a Seal of Biliteracy in English and Spanish by the state of Maryland.
