Jennifer Flitton Adams
Costume Designer

Jennifer Flitton Adams has been a costume designer for over thirty years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts from Sarah Lawrence College and Master of Fine Arts in theatre and costume design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Adams also studied art and fashion design in Florence, Italy, at the Centro Lorenzo de’Medici and the Accademia della Moda. She served as director of the theatre design and production program at Shenandoah University (SU) from 2017 to 2022 and has designed and taught at SU as an associate professor of theatre/costume design since 1999. Regional theatre work includes two years as the resident costume designer at the Allenberry Playhouse, as well as design and/or technical work at Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre, Maryland Ensemble Theatre, the Totempole Playhouse, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Colorado Opera Festival, Santa Fe Opera, the Pennsylvania Stage Company, Summer Studio Theatre Company, and the Tuacahn Center for the Arts, among others. Adams is the author of Teaching Costume Design and Costume Rendering: A Guide for Theatre and Performance Educators, published in January of 2024.
