Sofia Stankiewicz is a senior vocal performance major at Shenandoah University. She is in the studio of Grammy-nominated Dr. Fotina Naumenko and has been studying classical voice for eleven years. Recent opera credits include Mustardseed in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Shenandoah Conservatory), Emmie in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring (Harrower Opera Workshop in Atlanta, Georgia), Second Lady in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (Harrower Opera Workshop in Atlanta, Georgia), and the opera chorus in George Frideric Handel's Acis and Galatea (Shenandoah Conservatory). Recent solo credits include the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass in C Major, the mezzo soprano soloist in Amy Beach’s Canticle of the Sun, and the soprano soloist in Schubert’s Mass in G. Sofia has received many awards and scholarships throughout the beginning stages of her career both in her hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania, and in the Shenandoah Community, including Reading Civic Theatre’s Annual Scholarship Gala, Reading Choral Society’s Collegiate level scholarships, undergraduate winner of Shenandoah Conservatory’s 2024 Student Soloists Competition, and three-time first place winner at the Virginia NATS Competition for classical treble voice (Category 5B, 7A, and 7B). Currently, Sofia is a section leader at Trinity Episcopal Church in Upperville, Virginia, and soprano section leader in the Arts Chorale of Winchester. After graduating in May, Sofia plans to continue on in her journey in opera, wherever that may lead her! Most importantly, she would like to thank her friends, parents, family, “bonus family,” and boyfriend, Jonathan, for their love and support in everything she pursues.
