Cellist Bethany Hovermale is a recent graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory where she studied with Julian Schwarz. There, she was an avid member of the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony, Pit, and Opera Orchestras and continues to jump at any opportunity to immerse herself in music. She traveled with the SCSO to Argentina in 2023 to play in their performance tour and most recently was the principal cellist for SC’s production of Pippin. She has performed in masterclasses with such great cellists as Neal Cary, John Kaboff, Patrick Hopkins, and Amy Frost Baumgarten, and she attended the Eastern Music Festival in 2023 and 2024. This is her first season with SSMT, but she is very excited to be here for Singin’ in the Rain and Little Women. Come the fall, Bethany will begin pursuing a M.M. degree at the Lamont School of Music where she will be studying with Dr. Meta Weiss.
