Jose Noe Barrera Garcia is from Clinton, Maryland, and is a Salvadoran-American tenor in the fourth year of his bachelor’s degree in vocal performance at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. He studies with Dr. Fotina Naumenko. He recently completed his junior recital in March 2025 and attended Opera Lucca in Lucca, Italy, located in the heart of Tuscany, during the summer of 2025. He performed in opera scenes from Mozart's La finta giardiniera and Le nozze di Figaro during the 2025 summer season and participated in an arias concert. He has been a part of five operas at Shenandoah, including Moscow, Cheryomushki and Caged Birds, a multidisciplinary collection of works such as Eastman's Joyboy, Ratniece's Claybird and Meredith Monk's Realm Variations. Barrera Garcia's repertoire focuses on Spanish art songs and arias, and he also specializes in Spanish diction. He enjoys discovering and learning art songs and arias in different languages. In addition to singing, he has been awarded a Seal of Biliteracy in English and Spanish by the state of Maryland.
