Shannon Fowler is a mezzo-soprano from Culpeper, Virginia. She is earning her Bachelor of Music in Performance degree, studying with Dr. Fotina Naumenko and, this semester, with Dr. Chelsea Cushman. Her operatic roles include parts in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shostakovich's Moscow, Cheryomushki, Monica Lewinsky in the original work Caged Birds with Shenandoah Conservatory in 2023, and Acis in Handel's Acis and Galatea, which toured in Portugal and Spain last year with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra. One of her upcoming roles is Hansel in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel. Fowler is an active member of the Arts Chorale of Winchester and the Shenandoah Conservatory Choir. When she is not singing, she works as a barista at Espresso Bar and Cafe and as a house manager at the conservatory's box office. Fowler would like to thank her family and friends who continuously support her, as well as the entire direction team for helping put this show together. She is excited to perform a work like Sweat and hopes you are left gasping for breath.
