Felix Mendelssohn was a German Romantic composer, conductor and pianist. A prodigy from childhood, he became one of the most influential musicians of the nineteenth century. Deeply inspired by the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Mendelssohn helped revive Bach’s legacy and incorporated Baroque ideals into his own refined, lyrical style. His life and career were cut short by his premature death at age thirty-eight.
