Italian-born and Brussels-based guitarist, researcher and pedagogue Luca Isolani focuses on the folk idioms heritage in the classical guitar repertoire.
After graduating cum laude under the guidance of Maurizio Villa at the Conservatorio di Napoli, Isolani first took part in the Volterra Project as a student in 2011. As a result of this uplifting experience, he moved to Belgium to study with Antigoni Goni at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Brussels, obtaining a masters degree in music with high distinction.
Living in the ‘Capital of Europe,’ Luca takes part in numerous international classical, jazz and folk music projects, performing with renowned musicians both in Europe and the United States of America.
As well as currently working as assistant professor at Royal Flemish Conservatory of Brussels and at KASK&Conservatorium Ghent, since April 2022 Isolani holds a grant for a doctorate at the Vrije Universiteit van Brussel. His Ph.D. project focuses on the connection between folk and art music in guitar practice.
