Playing off of the Spanish word for five, “Cinco,” Sync features the recurring motif of the number five with its time signature of 5/4, marbles spinning around the drum five times, and phrases in bars of five. The use of the Kalimba on the drum makes it a natural amplifier in order for the quiet instrument to be fully heard in performance.
