General Note
Maevon Gumble

This program is designed to wrestle with a single question: What does it mean to show up for ourselves and each other, and what gets in our way? Most of these pieces are protest songs that come from queer and trans artists, and they offer a both/and exploration of resilient tools for survival that can also act as barriers to connection. While several songs navigate this friction, others also invite us into embracing the complexities of life through joyful resistance and play. Together, they provide a container for us to connect through music and break down walls between “performer” and “audience.” Whether you choose to sing along, add body percussion, move freely, or sit back and listen, I encourage you to engage in whatever way feels authentic to you.
