Dr. Chen Yi is a prolific composer who blends Chinese and Western traditions, transcending cultural and musical boundaries. Dr. Yi strives for the blending of Chinese and Western traditions through the use of extended techniques on Western art music instruments and compositional techniques specific to Chinese traditions. Currently, Dr. Chen Yi serves on faculty at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
