Franklin D. Hansen
To Pull Out All the Stops

Franklin D. Hansen (b. 2002) is a composer whose work has been described by Eric Ewazen as “beautifully orchestrated” with “lovely, wistful melodies,” and imbued with “virtuosity and terrific sparkle.” His voice remains distinctive across mediums, often featuring chromatic inflections and a signature whimsical energy.

His music has been performed by groups such as the Eastern Wind Symphony, Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, UNC at Chapel Hill Wind Ensemble, Rutgers Symphonic Winds, Rutgers Symphony Band, Momenta Quartet, University of Kentucky Faculty Brass Quintet, Grand Ledge High School Wind Symphony and all-state bands across the United States conducted by Julie Giroux.

Franklin holds degrees in composition and music education from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, where he studied composition with Amanda Harberg and trumpet with Kenneth DeCarlo.
