Julian Baldwin (Alphonse/Petitpois) is a senior voice performance major at Shenandoah Conservatory. They were born in Washington Heights, New York, and were raised in Weehawken, New Jersey. They grew up singing and performing and have been on stage since they were four years old. When Julian isn’t performing in operas, they sing with the Conservatory Choir, write comedic librettos and direct chamber operas. They study voice with their amazing voice teacher, Dr. Fotina Naumenko, who has encouraged them to be themselves since freshman year. As a queer person on the autism spectrum, Julian is an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the arts, especially wanting to elevate unheard voices in classical music. They are honored to be a part of this amazing production doing exactly that. This summer, they will sing the role of Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte in Mezzano, Italy, as a member of the Trentino Music Festival Opera Studio.
