A Shenandoah Conservatory alumnus, Garrett is pleased to return to Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre (SSMT) for his ninth summer with the company. He has worked extensively in the Washington, D.C., metro area as a music director, conductor, accompanist, vocal coach and teaching artist. In addition to professional performing experiences, Garrett finds great joy in working with young performers in a variety of pre-professional, educational and collegiate settings, and is currently staff accompanist at Millbrook High School and theatre music director for John Handley High School here in Winchester. Selected career credits include music direction for The Color Purple, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (D.C. regional premiere), Some Enchanted Evening, and Sister Act (D.C. regional premiere) at Riverside Center for the Performing Arts in Fredericksburg, Virginia; Monsters of the Villa Diodati (world premiere) at Creative Cauldron in Falls Church, Virginia; as a guest artist for Adventure Theatre MTC and Creative Stages, and as conductor for last summer’s production of Grease at SSMT.
