Concertino for Tuba (2007)
Carlos Marquez

Carlos Marques, a native of Venezuela, is a Portuguese composer, conductor and trumpeter earning certificates in clarinet (yes, that's correct) and music theory from the University of Aveiro and later a master's in psychology, specializing in the psychology of music. He has studied conducting with Robert Houlihan, Vasco Pearce de Azevedo, António Vassaki Lourenço and Alex Schillings. Currently he teaches music theory and ear training at Conservatório da Jobra.

The Concertino for Tuba and Symphonic Band was written for tubist Adélio Carneiro who currently teaches at the Lisbon Superior School of Music and the Metropolitan Professional School. The work is through composed with several distinct sections of varying styles and heavily influenced by Spanish folk music.
