Growing up in Harford County, Maryland, Kylie Johnson began dancing at the age of three. By the age of ten, she began to receive formal training at E-Street Dance Academy in Abingdon, Maryland, under the direction of Amy Ferrigno. Here she trained under Lauren Carnesi-Daniels, Traci Swartz and Ariana McGrath in various styles, including contemporary, jazz, lyrical, tap, hip-hop and ballet. Under the mentorship of Lauren Carnesi Daniels, she was able to travel and assist with residencies across the region. Throughout her youth, Kylie had the opportunity to choreograph, teach and even direct on her own. She was the ministry director and choreographer for Life Source International Church’s dance ministry. Her work through the ministry has been recognized and awarded regionally. She has also choreographed pieces for Names to Remember: A Young Choreographer’s Festival and The Warehouse Theater’s A Night at the Museum. During her time at E-Street, she had the opportunity to compete and perform regionally and nationally, such as at the Grier Gala (Tyrone, Pennsylvania, 2017 to 2022) and Dancers Responding to Aids: Stars of Tomorrow (Purchase, New York, 2022). In addition, she performed with a local theater company, Harford Dance Theater, where she had featured and ensemble roles in the Kinetic Canvas Series (2015 to 2022), and was most recently Harriet in Harriet’s Happiest Halloween (2021).
Currently, she is working towards her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at Shenandoah Conservatory. She is excited to continue her passion of performing, exploring and creating!
