Tyson Francis (he/him) is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Winchester, Virginia. Starting dance at the age of five at Vostrikov Academy of Ballet, he grew in ballet, modern and jazz styles under the mentorship of Genadi Vostrikov, Susan Vostrikov, Melissa Kauffman Largent, Beth Sager and Chris McNamara. Performing in the academy’s annual productions of The Nutcracker in a progression of roles, he has also appeared on stage at Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre as an Orphan in Oliver!, Michael Banks in Mary Poppins, Winthrop Paroo in The Music Man, a special swing appearance as an ensemble member in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, performed in student-led productions with Your Act!, and he was invited to be in Shenandoah Conservatory’s production of She Loves Me.
Currently studying at Shenandoah Conservatory working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design & Production emphasizing in stage management with a minor in Music, he has continued pursuing his passion for a range of performative and technical theatrical environments such as, dancing in works choreographed by Maurice Fraga, Daniel Padierna, Danielle Sten-Guillermo, Lindsay Browning and a plethora of fellow students, and serving as production stage manager on The Apple Tree, Reefer Madness, Borne: A New Musical and the Shenandoah Conservatory’s 2022 Holiday Gala, as well as assistant stage manager on Hair, The New World of Opera and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
Tyson cannot wait to continue growing and learning while navigating the world of live entertainment and the arts.
