Maria Pomares
Dancer

Maria Pomares (she/her) is a dancer from Norwich, New York. She began her dance training at three years old and trained at Perkins School of the Arts during high school where she studied under Amber and Mikey Perkins. At Perkins, she predominantly studied modern dance as well as contemporary partnering, ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap and hip-hop, and she is currently a substitute dance teacher at the studio. In 2019, she attended the New York State Summer School of the Arts (NYSSSA) where she studied modern dance and trained under Carolyn Adams, Danny Grossman and Erika Pujic. She has choreographed numerous productions for her home school district such as Disney’s Newsies, The Theory of Relativity and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. She has performed works by Lauren Carnesi Daniels, Ballet Hispánico and Daniel Padierna. She is currently a second-year student at Shenandoah University double majoring in Dance (Bachelor of Arts) and Exercise Science (Bachelor of Science).
