Clarinetist Jalen Mims began her musical career on bass clarinet. In doing so, she truly developed an appreciation for the deep rich sounds that the instrument could create. This, paired with a really passionate middle school band director, helped to create a hunger for music making within her. Now in college, Jalen studies with exceptional clarinetist Garrick Zoeter and continues to improve her craft each day. She regularly performs in multiple ensembles including the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, various chamber groups and Clarinet Choir, as well as singing in The Harambee Gospel Choir.
