Dasia-Marie Mitchell is a junior voice performance major at Shenandoah University. She has always had a passion for the arts, and because of that, she joined the performing arts program at her previous high school, which led her on the career path she is on now. She is currently the vice president of the Black Student Union, the secretary of the Harambee Gospel Choir, the SGA representative for OPERAtunity and the assistant director for the previous operas, The New World of Opera by Germaine Tailleferre, Hydrogen Jukebox by Philip Glass, and for the current opera, A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Britten. Some other things she enjoys are playing the piano, painting and reading. Her future plans include exploring her newfound interest in directing and opening a nonprofit performing arts organization to help the less fortunate achieve their passions in their desired performing arts field. She is appreciative of all her friends, family, mentors and professors who have facilitated her growth in her learning and as a person.
