James V. Raymond

James V. Raymond (scenic designer) is currently on the faculty at Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. He earned a Master of Fine Arts in Scenic Design & Technology at West Virginia University and a bachelor's at DeSales University. James was recently brought on to set dress and source props for the Broadway production of A Strange Loop that performed at the Lyceum Theatre (New York). James designed for Monumental Theatre Company, Pippin, which was nominated with four Helen Hayes Awards. He designed The Bridges of Madison County at Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre in 2022, which was nominated for Broadway Regional Award – Central Virginia for Set Design of a play or musical. James set designed Cabaret in 2020 for Ovations Theatre of Rockville, Maryland, was nominated for Broadway Regional Awards – D.C. for Set Design of the Decade (Non-equity). James has worked closely with the late six-time Emmy award-winning production designer of Sesame Street, Bob Phillips, as well as two time Tony Award-nominated Broadway designer Dede Ayite. James has also done carpentry work for Round House Theatre, ARTECHOUSE, Woolly Mammoth and Constellation Theatre Company, just to name a few.
