In many of my courses here at Shenandoah University, I have been asked to write a mission statement, teaching philosophy, vision, etc. All of mine have revolved around empowering my students to tell their stories. This past spring, I saw an amazing TikTok of an auditioned regional choir of high school girls performing this number. As a singer, as a teacher, as a woman, it made me so proud to hear those girls sing. And as the central concept for this recital is women, it was a perfect half way point for this program.
