Tyson Francis (he/him) is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Winchester, Virginia. Starting dance at the age of five at Vostrikov Academy of Ballet, he grew in ballet, modern, and jazz styles under the mentorship of Genadi Vostrikov, Susan Vostrikov, Melissa Kauffman Largent, Beth Sager, and Chris McNamara. Performing in the Academy’s annual productions of The Nutcracker in a progression of roles, he has also appeared on stage at Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre as an Orphan in Oliver!, Michael Banks in Mary Poppins, Winthrop Paroo in The Music Man, a special swing appearance as an ensemble member in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, performed in student-led productions with Your Act!, and he was invited to perform in Shenandoah Conservatory’s production of She Loves Me. Currently studying at Shenandoah Conservatory working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design and Production emphasizing in Stage Management, he has continued pursuing his passion for a range of performative and technical theatrical environments. Dancing in works choreographed by Earl Mosely, Ting-Yu Chen, Maurice Fraga, Daniel Padierna, Danielle Sten-Guillermo, Lindsay Browning, and a plethora of fellow students, he has also served as Production Stage Manager on The Apple Tree, Reefer Madness, Borne: A New Musical and the Shenandoah Conservatory’s Holiday Gala 2022, as well as Assistant Stage Manager on Hair, The New World of Opera, and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Tyson has continued to grow and learn by working on various productions in costumes, wigs, and lighting, and he is thrilled to be a part of this summer's season!
