AJ Morrissey is currently pursuing her Bachelor's of Music at New York University where she studies with Josh Samuels, James Saporito, Javier Diaz, and Jonathan Haas. She performs there with NYU Steel, the NYU percussion chamber music ensemble, the NYU percussion ensemble, the NYU African Gyil and Percussion Ensemble, and the NYU Broadway Orchestra. She was selected to be the percussionist for NYU Steinhardt's 2023 production of Pippin. She also performed Viet Cuong’s percussion quartet concerto Re(new)al with NYU O1. AJ has the opportunity to serve as principal percussionist of the Grammy-winning New York Youth Symphony, with whom she performs regularly at Carnegie Hall. This season, she was honored to perform in the world premieres of i hope this finds you well by Ari Sussman, Sighting the Swallow by Bobby Ge, and Lies I Told You Four Days Ago by Sofia Rocha. Outside of percussion, AJ is pursuing a minor in Law and Societies from NYU.
