Cheryl Yancey received her MFA from The George Washington University. She is currently an Associate Professor of Costume Design at Shenandoah University. This is her 30th season for Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre. Her work has been seen last summer in Cinderella. She has also been seen in many shows including; Show Boat, Crazy for You, Damn Yankees, Gigi, Jesus Christ Superstar, Fiddler on the Roof, 1776, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Seussical, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Cats, Shrek!: The Musical, Monty Python's Spamalot, the Wiz, Pirates of Penzance and My Fair Lady. She recently designed the costumes for the play My Children! My Africa! for the Washington Stage Guild in Washington, DC as well as Candide for WSG in 2019. Prior to coming to Shenandoah University, she was the on the faculty of Allentown College of St. Francis DeSales, (now DeSales University) in Center Valley, PA and the resident costume designer for The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival. She has received 3 awards from the American College Theatre Festival for Outstanding Costume Design. Most recently OnStage Washington, DC named her designs for Pirates of Penzance among the Best Costume Designs for a musical in 2016.
