Ben Shaver
Associate Music Director

Ben Shaver (he/him/his) is an award-winning music director, singer and vocal coach. He holds a Bachelor of Music in voice performance from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and is pursuing a Master of Music in Conducting (Musical Theatre) at Shenandoah Conservatory (Class of 2025).

He has performed on stages in the United States, Italy, Austria and Georgia, most notably Carnegie Hall under the direction of Mairin Alsop and the Baltimore Symphony. Career highlights include Trouble in Tahiti, The Last Five Years, Grey Gardens, Sweeney Todd (+REPStage), Company, Nevermore (StillPointe Theatre), Young Frankenstein, Kiss Me, Kate, (Carver CFA), Newsies (Oakland Mills HS), Rocky Horror (Iron Crow, UMW, Richmond Triangle Players), Lippa’s Wild Party (Iron Crow), Little Women, Standardized Testing the Musical!!!! and Working (St. Timothy’s).

Ben has studied voice with Francesca Mondanaro, W. Stephen Smith, William Sharp and Jeannette Lovetri. He is passionate about new works, having premiered three new operas: Don Cesarino (Ethan Braun), The Tower (Jake Runestad) and Stinney: A New Opera (Frances Pollock). He is also a co-writer with Joe Barros (NYTheatre Barn) and Ryan Haase (StillPointe Theatre) of To Whom It May Concern, a musical about the life of Ryan White, and Mixed Media by Mika Kauffman. From 2017 to 2022, Ben was the director of music and theatre at St. Timothy’s School in Stevenson, Maryland. Since 2015, Ben has been the director of music at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Potomac, Maryland. In 2015, he also co-founded a program in Milan, Italy, Hello City Camps, where students learned English through songs, games and theatre during the summer. During the 2022/23 academic year, Ben worked as music director and adjunct at the University of Mary Washington.
