The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” is a premier musical organization of the U.S. Army, founded in 1922 by Army Chief of Staff General of the Armies John J. “Blackjack” Pershing. The band provides musical support for the leadership of the United States, to include all branches of government, and engages in a varied spectrum of events to connect the American people to their Army.
Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the Concert Band has performed in venues such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the United Nations, and at locations around the globe to include Australia and China. “Pershing’s Own” performs free public concerts throughout the year, including summer events on the West Steps of the U.S. Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, and community parks through the D.C. region. The ensemble participates in ongoing educational outreach and appears regularly at national and international music education conferences and events.
