Ah! Je ris de me voir si belle (“The Jewel Song”) occurs in Act 3 of Charles-François Gounod's Faust. In this scene, Marguerite finds a basket of jewels. Being from the lower class, she has never seen any jewels of the sorts! She tries the jewels on, and realizes that others will not recognize her due to her special disguise. Marguerite thinks that if Faust can see her, with her enhanced beauty, then he will fall in love with her.
