Dasia-Marie Mitchell

Dasia-Marie Mitchell is a senior at Shenandoah University, pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Performance (Voice) and a Master of Science in Performing Arts Leadership & Management. Her passion for the arts led her to join the performing arts program at her previous high school, which contributed to her current career path. At Shenandoah, she is currently the Black Student Union's president and the Harambee Gospel Choir's secretary. Currently, Dasia-Marie has been working on her senior recital and will be working on the upcoming opera Shostakovich’s Moscow, Cheryomushki further into the spring. She has also worked on Le Roi de Lahore by Massenet for the Dorset Opera Festival in the United Kingdom, Caged Birds by various composers, Tailleferre's The New World of Opera, Alex Groves' Back into the World, Phillip Glass’ Hydrogen Jukebox, and Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Her other interests include playing the piano, painting, and reading. Her future plans include further pursuing directing and later establishing a nonprofit performing arts organization to assist underrepresented populations interested in the performing arts. Dasia-Marie Mitchell is optimistic about future generations and grateful to those who have all supported her.
