Jr Medina has been awarded numerous prizes for his art in the United States, Mexico, Cuba and Guatemala. These include awards in piano competitions, nominations for recordings on compact CDs, and full-tuition scholarships for outstanding academic achievements. These include Universidad InterNaciones (2018–2019), LYNN University Conservatory of Music (2021–2023), Shenandoah Conservatory (2023–2025) and the PROMEC Foundation of Guatemala for four consecutive years (2021–2025).
Recently, Medina was admitted to continue his master's studies with Irish pianist John O'Conor at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. He completed postgraduate studies in the piano studio of Dr. Roberta Rust at LYNN University Conservatory of Music in Florida. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a specialization in music, graduating Cum Laude from Universidad InterNaciones. He graduated with high honors from the National Conservatory of Music Germán Alcántara with a Bachelor of Arts in Piano and from the Alfredo Colom Pedagogical Institute as a teacher of musical education. Jr studied under the guidance of distinguished pianists Leonardo Gell (Cuba-Costa Rica) and Zoila Luz García Salas (Guatemala).
He has performed as a soloist with LYNN Philharmonia (U.S.A.), the National Symphony Orchestra of Guatemala, the Orchestra of the National Conservatory of Music Germán Alcántara, and the Municipal Youth Orchestra of Guatemala. His performances have occurred in various concert halls in the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Cuba and Guatemala.
He co-founded the first piano festival-competition, Luis Felipe Arias (Guatemala 2024), and is a cultural manager in the artistic project Encounter of Pianists of Guatemala.
