The Black Prince
"...by the hand of that black name..."

Edward of Woodstock, known as the Black Prince, was the eldest son and heir apparent to King Edward III, Henry V's grandfather. He was one of the most successful English commanders during the Hundred Years' War between England and France, recognized as a model of Chivalry and one of the greatest Knights of his age. He died before his father, however, and his son, Richard, succeeded to the throne as Richard II.
