Skyy Carter is a mezzo-soprano from Newport News, Virginia. She is in her second year at Shenandoah University pursuing her bachelor’s degree in voice performance with the help of Dr. Fotina Nuemenko. While at Shenandoah, she has done a masterclass with world-renowned mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves. Skyy has also performed in multiple Shenandoah University productions such as A Midsummer Night's Dream by Benjamin Britten as a fairy, and Caged Bird, a multidisciplinary project with works by Missy Mazzoli and Ratniece Claybird. Performing with Shenandoah University’s Harambee Gospel Choir, she opened for Vickie Winans. In the spring of 2024, she will be performing in Shenandoah’s production of Moscow, Cheryomushki by Dmitri Shostakovich, where she will portray the role of Kurochkina.
