From Houston, Texas, Gumaro Gomez Jr. received his bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Houston Moore's School of Music and his master's degree in trumpet performance from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky.

A former director of bands at Houston First Baptist Academy in Houston Texas, and First Baptist Christian Academy in Pasadena, Texas, Gumaro has also taught private lessons and masterclasses all around the greater Houston area.

His previous theatre and performance experience includes trumpet for the U.S. Broadway National Tour of Little Women, Shenandoah Summer Music Theater, Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, Pasadena Philharmonic, Clear Lake Symphony, Woodland Symphony, Cumbia and Tejano Latin bands Los Gavilanes de la Cumbia and Sandy G y los Gavilanes, along with many churches chamber ensembles and regional theater work.
