Anita Williams is a violist, educator, and arts administrator based in Richmond, Virginia. She holds a Bachelor of Music in viola performance from Shenandoah University where she studied under Doris Lederer. As a performer, she enjoys chamber music, premiering new works, and exploring music outside of the traditional classical music canon. Richmond performance highlights include partnerships with ClassicalRevolution RVA, studio sessions with local independent artists, and “Blue Hour Sessions” with D.C.-based band Foreign Air. Along with her administrative duties in the education department of the Richmond Symphony, Williams is the assistant teacher for the first Youth Community Strings Cohort—an El Siesta-inspired early music education program—and is a trained “String Sprouts” teacher. When not performing and teaching, Williams can be found backpacking, rock climbing, or petting as many dogs as possible. She is thrilled to be returning to Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre (SSMT) for her sixth season, and looks forward to another summer of live theatre in the valley!
