John Tuvera Lim is a second-year student of Dr. Byron Jones pursuing a Master of Music in voice performance at Shenandoah Conservatory. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a bachelor's in vocal performance and was awarded Outstanding Bachelor of Music Performance by the School of Music. His former teachers there were professors Shelby VanNordstrand and Alisa Belflower.
In the recent summer, John spent a month in Weimar, Germany, and made his debut playing the role of Papageno in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, where he sang for an audience of one thousand in Mühlhausen's town square. In past productions, John has played the role of the Father in Hansel and Gretel, Ted Hughes in a new work by Ella Marchment, Caged Birds, and has played numerous characters in featured scenes from many shows and choristers in Opera Omaha productions.
John is thrilled to perform on the Iberian Peninsula as this is the first time he has ever visited both Portugal and Spain. After his upcoming graduation, he hopes to continue his education to pursue his dream of being a professional opera performer.
